Wait a minute...I'm confused...Shelby Thames and the Board have both stressed the importance of objectivity and fairness....yet, who did Thames appoint to investiage claims that Dvorak falsified information on her resume? Her husband's former law partner??? Now who is the board appoint to make sure the USM hearing on the two fired professors is fair??? A lawyer who is representing Shelby Thames in other matters? What am I missing here?!?!?!
It seems to me, that with all the nationa, if not international, interest in this case, that the board would do everything it could to avoid even the slightest appearance of a conflict of interest. If the lawyer appointed by the board to "ensure the fairness of the professor's hearing" is in fact representing Shelby Thames in other cases, how can he possibly be an impartial observer?
