He was fired for showing up to a student party (and drank)after a loss.

This is the type of quality faculty members we'll be seeing for now on.

Okay, so this move will bring INTEGRITY and STABILITY to USM????? Either Thames is more meglomaniacal than anyone could imagine or he is just the dumbest man ever to walk the face of the earth. Or both.

I can see the parties at the Mahogany Bar now after Eustachy rolls into town...people really need to protest this hiring immediately. What kind of judgement does this show? And I'll bet Thames' PR machine will talk all about "forgiveness" and giving people a "2nd chance." WHERE WAS THE 2ND CHANCE FOR GLAMSER AND STRINGER--TWO HIGHLY RESPECTED PROFESSORS???? The double standard is astounding.

New rule at Shelby U: misusing university equipment is a "criminal act." Partying with coeds is "just good clean fun."

I wonder how many of those students at the parties the Coach attended were underage and drinking...I'll bet if Professors were found at a party where underage students were drinking they'd be immediately terminated!! What's the term usually used ? "moral terpitude?"

I don't believe someone who drinks with underage students should be working at a school in any capacity.

well those professors that you are defending sure did get ****ed off when they found out that they couldn't slam the beers at lunch anymore. don't tell me that some didn't drink alot at lunch because I have seen them do it.

It is ok for the professors to drink and teach our kids but the basketball coach is a demon if he is where are kids are drinking....great logic.

I wouldn't defend professors drinking before going into the classroom. I think there should be a rule against it.
