Founders' Day Goings-on: A Recap

As the demonstration wasn't organized and was impromptu in nature, only about 12 demonstrators attended today's ceremony. However, the scant media representatives covering the event came to us for our comments before they interviewed the SA...er...I mean the SGA.

Loftus opined, indirectly, that the Printz had attacked him throughout his presidency out of sheer, unwarranted sheer petulence. Obviously he had clued Cain in our malicious campus news outlet beforehand, as the newly inaugurated president of the Hitler Youth gave his speech and announced his vision for his year in office, which included starting an alternative campus newspaper that would be ran under the auspices of the SGA--got Pravda, comrade? Moreover, Cain felt obliged to address the current turmoil by stating the SGA wasn't going to take sides and remain on the fence while ensuring the education process continued on campus--when did it stop?

As the new SGA officers took their oaths of office, the stand holding the flags was felled by a gust of wind, with the flags splaying all over the ground--a foreboding omen, indeed. Former President Loftus looken taken aback at the sight of the various national and state ensigns lying flacid upon the ground, and jogged over with the look of one who is trying to save an imperiled child on his face...maybe he thought God had taken offense to his opening prayer?

Contrary to what the Thames cronies (all 4 of them) have posted on this message board, the students who demonstrated today, though few in number, were all excellent students--many are Honors College members, most belong to numerous honor societies, and some hold offices in a plethora of student organizations.

What intruiged many of us was Joe Paul's constantly looking at us and smiling when he praised the students who have contributed to making this a great university. Furthermore, Tim Hudson thanked us for being there after the ceremony saying, "It's goo to see y'all" (he did the same thing at the IHL Board meeting two weeks ago).

In terms of on-site support, several alumni approached us, both before and after the ceremony, and thanked us for staying the course, as well as encouraging us to keep fighting.
To the concerned alumni: WE WILL.

Bravo, Cam!  You make this alumna (and current doctoral student) proud!

So glad to hear that Joe Paul was smiling at you all...he knows the score--which is why he's getting the h**l out of Dodge.  Too bad that he won't make a public statement of support, though.  Same goes for Tim Hudson.  I guess their silence is the most damning thing for Thames right now.
