Van Hook is simply a casualty of Angie Dvorak's "econ development" and "wet/dry research facilities" mindset.
The worst part about this is it is a permanent decision that can not be undone later. Once the golf course is gone, it is gone forever. Students, faculty, and staff were not consulted. Many universities have golf courses. We will be one of the ones that does not.
Hate to say it, but van Hook was dead before they decided to close it. Having a 3rd rate golf course with no rich alumni to support it doesn't help a campus
