Hey guys, breaking news for tomorrow's media. USM is going to announce who filled --- for the first time ever --- the new position of CIO, or Chief Information Officer. This person will head up iTech and other information services for the whole campus. Was there a national search or did I just miss this one? __________________

There was a big search, and the three finalists visited campus and met with all of iTech staff. ITech staff were reported to be impressed by all three. __________________

According to the print edition of H'burg American 4/2/04, it says HOMER COFFMAN will be USM's first CIO, pending board approval. __________________
