The Student Printz reported today that "USM President Shelby F. Thames and Hattiesburg Provost Tim Hudson have not read the Faculty Senate’s open letter that addressed concerns with the actions of the administration during the past two years" (at http://www.usm.edu/fsenate/open_letter_040104.htm ).

May I suggest we give them the opportunity to read this letter. Send copies (hard copies preferred) to

Dr. Shelby F. Thames , Office of the President, Box 5001, USM, Hattiesburg, MS 39406-5001 or at Shelby.F.Thames@usm.edu

Dr. Tim W. Hudson, Office of the Provost, Box 5002, USM, Hattiesburg, MS 39406-5002 or at Tim.Hudson@usm.edu

Also, to Ms. Lisa Mader at .......................... nah.

Oh, the flood of letters we could create. Maybe they would at least notice the bags of letters pouring in.

You know, when I read in that neither the Provost nor the Prez admitted that he read the letter written to them by the Faculty Senate - I didn't think I could find another reason to be even more appalled than I already was.  To me, that's a tragic PR stunt on Miss Lisa's part -- so the drawbridge has been raised and the Dome has isolated themselves from even acknowledging the efforts of the Faculty Senate.  Adams and Reese can't be bothered with that pesky lawyer, Shelby and Co. can't be bothered with that silly Faculty Senate.  Facts are scary - I guess they're thinking it's better to ignore than to acknowledge. I had a cat once who thought she was invisible if she just faced the corner and didn't look around. Guess what? She was still there looking pretty silly.

Don't mind the gnome behind the curtain.
