I heard that one of the 9 deans Shelby fired in the reorganization was at a dinner party with his wife.  It was looking at the time like Shelby might have to ask this particular dean to come back in his old capacity (external pressures, etc.).  One of the party attendees asked the man and he said he wouldn't even consider it, when his wife chimed in saying "not even if little Shelby rode up to us on a Shetland pony and begged."
