Left the Bursar's office - I'm not sure when. He's opened up a sporting goods place in town I think - if anyone knows if he's part of the 2003 departees, let's get him listed. Heard he left pretty fed up with what SFT and Co. were trying to get him to do.

Hadn't he been at USM forever?  He should be added to the list.

Truth:

I hate to do this but I disagree with listing him as an example.  There is some backroom talk he wanted to go for other reasons.  listing him would make us look like our info is junk.

Sorry

Questions:  I hate to do this but if you are listing people who have retired, with the implication that they simply left - maybe not because of SFT, then why leave Tommy off the list??  I have a good idea why he wanted to go and leaving his name off seems really odd to me.

LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHT: THE LIST IS AN OBJECTIVE LIST OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE LEFT OR ARE LEAVING DURING 2003-04.

The list is OBJECTIVE.  The names are there; people can draw their own conclusions.

Different people have different reasons for leaving.  The fact that this is the largest faculty exodus in the modern history of USM speaks volumes itself.

Many people who are retiring would have stayed on longer if Shelby were not president.  I know this for a fact.

Neil McMillen is a history department keystone.  As emeritus, he has continued to teach classes and to mentor graduate students.  He's fed up and won't be back after this semester.  It is a HUGE loss for the department, and especially for USM.  Shelby may be widely known for making paint--so what.  Neil McMillen is internationally renown for his works on Southern history.  He is one of the most respected historians in his focal area.  His exit diminishes not only the liberal arts college, but all of USM.  And he is only ONE example.

Very good points Fire Shelby.  Someone post when Hillman left and we can get the word to babbs for inclusion on the list if he left this year.

I've heard that of the five people in the financial affairs office who were here two years ago, only one remains. Can anyone confirm this?

FS, remember that it is non-stinky paint!  And it's called American Pride, for G**sake!  Not to mention that they repainted the Pentagon with it after 9-11...where is SFT's Congressional Medal of Honor???

[NOTE:  The above is an example of SARCASM for those who may never have experienced it before.]
