PS--universities always allow candidates that were not chosen for top administrator jobs the option of "withdrawing" their names at the end if they were not picked. It's almost seen as professional courtesy. Betcha $100 that's what happened.
Dr. Joseph S. Paul has withdrawn his name from consideration for the position of vice president for student affairs at Texas A & M University. "This process has been both affirming and enlightening. Texas A & M is a great university and they have treated me with such genuine hospitality," said Paul. "The bottom line is, my family and I love Southern Miss and Hattiesburg. We have much to do at the university and our very best days are just ahead of us. I am excited about continuing my work with our students. They are what it's all about for me." Southern Miss President Shelby Thames voiced his delight in Paul's decision. "I am thrilled that Joe is choosing to stay at Southern Miss," said Thames. "He is outstanding with our students, and is a loyal member of the Southern Miss family."
