Typical HA/BS. They quote (allegedly) one student and act as if the have conducted some vaild and reliable survey of the student population. Moreover, students SHOULD BE more concerned with their studies than the hearings. That, however, doesn't mean they are not concerned with the outcome---which their attention will not alter.
This is a deliberate attempt to give the impression that students feel this is a non-issue. This isn't journalism: this is propoganda. Who is writing this crap, Darth Mader?

My sentiments exactly...don't know who is writing this, but it's so biased it hurts. Let's wait to see what the full article says...should be interesting.

Did you notice the TIME on the update?
"April 25, 2004 1:18 AM USM students focus on studies, not hearing"
Who is sending the H.A. "Breaking News" at 1:18 AM???
How many students have approached faculty members and asked, "Will having a degree from USM hurt me?"
How many students have asked in the past week, "What can we do?"
How many students have said, "We will continue to protest--at the right time."
I think it is funny that the only student interviewed in that teaser is from Dana Thames' department. Typical for the Hat-Am.
Evidently, the students the Hat-Am is interviewing are not the same students who are emailing me.
And let me add that students are capable of considering multiple topics at once. Just because they are focusing on their studies does not mean they are not also focusing on the crisis.
I hate this kind of reportage--it's biased and it's meant to be. Lemme guess. This is another Janet Braswell-authored item.
speaking of spin, i hear they are changing the locks in some offices in the union, so as not to 'interfere' didn't the dome get the message that the hearings are open and people working shouldn't interfere with the hearing. just thought their paranoia was a bit extreme.
also, faulty wiring in the building shouldn't limit the internet feed, can't they do it with a video camera and a good computer?

What year is it? Gimme a break. I'm sure the school has heard of wireless connections. If anyone cannot tell that Shelby is scared and trying to limit access to the hearings I feel sorry for them. It just makes no sense to hold the trials in such a small room.
Shelby begged for live internet feed!! What happened Shelby? I know you have people with wireless know how. As John Stossel would say, "Gimme a break."

Yes, in fact, this was one of the "triumphs" of the Fleming administration that I believe Shelby has trumpeted on more than one occasion. USM was, apparently, one of the first schools to have "wireless" capabilities. Too bad they can't figure out how to make it work now. Sounds fishy to me.

A letter to the ed from someone in the USM-tech-loop stating this would be GREAT.
