The board meets monthly, as you probably know. Their meetings are usually middle of the month, around the 15th. They do not list a meeting date for their May meeting on their website.
I presume that they will assemble shortly after the conclusion of the hearing, after Anderson and the FAC have reached a decision. (We already know that Shelby has reached his.)
My best guess would be that they will meet the first or second week in May. According to Mississippi's "sunshine laws," they must post an announcement(can be on the front door of their office) stating the date of the meeting at least a day in advance of assembling.
Believe there is one scheduled for the 19th of May. They may call a special meeting to deal with this. Question is will that be with the old board or the new board and before or after graduation - lots of strategizing must be going in to the decision. Is the official "changing of the guard" May 8?

And thanks for that info. I expect them to call a special meeting and go into executive session, which is common practice when personnel matters are discussed.
Even so, it would be great to have Glamser/Stringer supporters in the building.

May 1 is what we all originally thought but I am not sure that is correct now, which is why I put the May 8 day out there. I'm not sure May 8 is the correct day either but I did hear that it was something other than May 1.
Also, there may be some overlap between the old and new boards causing this confusion - may have to do with who gets to vote when rather than "seating" date.
FS, please re-check your sources there and be sure they are current. My info is about a week old. Anyone know for sure?

The Bob Pittman editorial in the Independent was my source. It's the editorial revealing how/why Robin Robinson was selected over Mixon and Payne. It states May 1, but other articles I have read state "early May."
No info on the IHL website. There's not even any mention of the new appointees.

The context in which I heard a discussion of dates was a debate over the relative advantages of getting a vote by the current board versus delaying until after graduation so there would be fewer faculty and students on campus. I will try and confirm and ask others to do the same. Meanwhile, continue to contact ALL board members and don't make any assumptions about who will be voting.

I want to bump this thread up again. I think it would be a very good idea for there to be lots of people at the post-hearings IHL board meeting. The media have been implying that there is less interest in the hearings (students are too busy studying, etc.). I would very much like the board to know that this is not true. Even if they are in closed session, we can stand around being very concerned and talk to the press, if needed.

I agree. We should use some of the time around the hearing to plan it -- and I think those of us who are faculty should lobby with our departments to get as many faculty as possible to make a trip up. Ditto students. Ditto members of faculty committees. Let's show up.
