We all know the kinds of beliefs that many of Shelby's supporters (e.g., Billy Hewes, etc.) hold about certain segments of society. We all know that Reuben Anderson is an African American. We all believe SFT clearly lost yesterday.
Question: how many times do you think the "n" word was used at the president's house on Jamestown Rd. last night?
Perhaps a better question, as far as race relations go, is why does Shelby have no African Americans in upper management at USM? (At least none that I know of.)
FS, you are right. The fact that the "n" word was probably thrown around the kitchen in the prez mansion last night like a ragdoll says alot about SFT, and would correlate highly with why he has no minority representation in the dome.
FS, that is a good question. If there had been national searches, rather than Thames searches, for some of these positions, maybe things would be different.
ouch, that hurts...sadly, I imagine that there is some truth there. Just remember, when you go to war against this group of 40+ southern white male types that remember the good ole days, that is always lurking somewhere beneath the surface.

Now that I think back, do you guys remember the thread on the supporter of Thames who is also a member of a southern secessionist (trying to say it nicely) organization? What was his name?

yep, sure do. I think he was in the paper again in an editorial, touting the wonders of Thames.

From conversations with folks over the years, many African Americans have developed a strong radar detector about such tendencies. Some of their information about bigots may come from the grapevine and perhaps from body language. Since Shelby and Judge Anderson are from the same generation, and went through the civil rights era probably on different sides, I doubt that Judge Anderson is in doubt about the issue. That said, he appears to be too much of a man for that to influence his judgement in this case.

You should be ashamed of posting garbage like this. Some of you wonder why you don't get more support in your campaign. This is a prime reason.

We've got plenty of support. What's your beef? Things kinda slow over at USM Camelot central...I mean, Eagle Talk.net?

truth, right on. When you hang around Scott Farris and Bud Holmes and Billy Hewes and ... and ..., you can't expect people to believe you don't have a confederate flag on the ceiling about your bed and occasionally use the "n" word from time-to-time. For a president of a major institution of higher learning to associate with such trolls is really poor judgement, unless of course he believes strongly in their causes. I think this is an appropriate string.

Let's see, 40 to 0, 430 to 32, 14 to 0, former Supreme Court Justice Reuben Anderson, online petition with several hundred signatures, student petition with over 1,000 signatures, letters to the editor from non-racists (non-homophobes) from around the world. You're right, we don't have very much support do we?
I think ya'll are being a bunch of sexists talkin' 'bout good ol' boys. 'Cause when I was in Mississippi last, I showed off some pictures of my daughters with their friends (they go to a very ethnically diverse school) at a high school dance and I had plenty of H'burg girlfriends ask me if it was common to "see nigras with white girls" at a dance like that. So don't you go complainin' 'bout the white boys talking 'bout the "n" word 'cause the girlies do it too.
Honestly, I was stunned. I thought Mississippi would have gone beyond that by now. I am proud to say that my kids don't look at a person's color; they only care about the inside. Maybe one day, all of our kids can be this way. What a great dream.
