Quick question about downtime on the board
Permalink Closed

Did the board "hiccup" for anyone else awhile ago--about 20 minutes ago?

I am thinking about setting up an alternate board, just in case this board ever crashes.

Thanks,

FS

When the website has heavy traffic and exceeds bandwidth, sometimes it is down, but that should not affect the message board...they are on two different servers.

It is best to bookmark this messageboard so you can get to it if the site is down.

I am going to establish an alternate forum now, just in case we ever need it.

Thanks for your help!

i have it bookmarked.  but at times if i try to refresh the page, ie explorer says i have to do something (i can't remember the details, but i just mash a button and it's all fine).  it deals with whether changes in the site (meaning someone posts a new response) are reflected when I come back from another site.  sometimes they aren't.  I don't know if this helps at all.

That happens to me too--always when I start a thread.  The best thing to do after you start a thread is to hit the "Fire Shelby Thames" link for the message board above your post the first time after you start a thread.

Thereafter, you shouldn't have any problem.

it wasn't after i started a thread.  it was just returning to the board.  i suspect it is due to bandwidth issues.  i've learned to adapt.  just hit refresh and it goes away.

FS,
I also got a blank screen when going to the message board. I tried three times and on the third time got a screen of a web site with the message that the page I was looking for will be down for 3 minutes for maintenance. Sure enough, 3 minutes later the board was back.

Alright...we are probably ok.  If we have any other problems I will link a back-up board to the website.

Thanks for your help, guys.
