The stated scope of the hearing was the consideration of Shelby terminating Glamser and Stringer. The purpose was to resove Thames firing the two profs. The judge was not charged with evaluating Shelby Thames' job performance (although I would love to hear what he thinks about Thames now, as well as what IHL thinks).
Having said that, I believe that the college board members will accept the agreement today, which will resolve the issue at the center of the hearing--the employment status of the two profs.
I don't believe that Shelby stepping down is a part of the compromise--I really don't see how it could be.
Once the college board accepts and ratifies the agreement, they very well could move on to discuss the other matter: Thames' job performance. God knows they have ample fodder for discussion, and they absolutely CAN discuss his lunacy exhibited by his testimony at the hearing Wednesday. I think any vote to remove him will be close, but they HAVE to consider the fact that his testimony about spying on emails (even students'!!) has further damaged the university.
If they don't discuss Thames tomorrow, surely his assitude will be on the agenda for their next regular meeting.
(Hope what I just wrote makes sense--I have been up all night with a sick child )
Agreed, FS! Good point and thanks for the reminder. This hearing was about the status of the two professors. Will they be terminated or not? Shelby Thames and his managerial tactics were not on trial..... this time.

He and his tactics weren't on trial today, but I hope the board discusses his sorry performance and the fact that his "bogus charade" (that HAS to make the glossary) will have cost the taxpayers of Mississippi tens of thousands (or more) dollars by the time this fiasco is over. And let's not forgot the intangible costs.
I agree. The point of this board is to "FIRE SHELBY" and the point of my board is to "FIRE THAMES." I, for one, will keep working on this issue until SFT is gone, regardless.

Once again - and I can't stress this enough - everyone must contine to hammer the IHL with e-mails and letters detailing Thames' misuse of power. The issue of Frank and Gary will be over in several hours. The issue of the Thames Administration will fade ( or perhaps turned a blind eye upon ) with the IHL in the coming weeks. Don't let the pressure off. With 4 new IHL Board members coming in - we must educate them fast and remind the other board members that we have OTHER ISSUES that need to be addressed and SOON. Roy Klumb will be taking the reins at the IHL and will have much power in what will be addressed at meetings. If the IHL has full mail sacks - I don't think the Thames issue can be ignored ( I hope ). So, friends, WRITE<WRITE<WRITE!
