After my name appeared on this list, someone dear to me posted (with the best intentions) that my departure was in no way caused by He of the Solid Gold Golf Cart. Let me say this about that. I've been here a decade. My love for the place and its people is deep. My faculty colleagues have acted with courage, wisdom, compassion, and grace. I am proud to know them, proud to have stood with them, sorry to leave here. Towards the Thames Administration, I feel intense revulsion, bitterness, weariness, and gargantuan disappointment. It is true that the job offered to me (one week before the firings) would have been hard to resist under any circumstances. However, under the dismal, demoralizing, utterly dispiriting, unjust circumstances at hand, I would have (then and now) accepted the offer of any other job.
My wife, Amy Schweinle, Ph.D. and I left USM last August and moved to the University of South Dakota. We were both Assistant Professors in the Department of Educational Leadership.
There were several reasons for our leaving. Almost all of them can be directly or indirectly attributed to the current USM Administration. However, our names are not on the list. Please feel free to add them.
