I just spoke with the contact person at AAUP regarding Glamser/Stringer.
AAUP has been following USM for quite a while for a number of reasons. Obviously, the currentmost topic has been the attempted termination without cause of tenured professors Glamser and Stringer.
When I asked how to proceed regarding formal censure of USM, he stated that there must be an open case at AAUP regarding censure.
Since the case was settled, AAUP has closed their investigation regarding this particular case. Therefore, censure, which is at the end of a series of steps, is not viable at this point.
Sigh. I was hoping that censure would actually force the college board to take action. It does not look like that will happen.

They might need to rexamine their criteria -- this is a new model I am afraid.
I have to say, this is typical of the national office of the AAUP. They have a strict procedure to follow (which is fine), but they also have a tendency to hide under their desks when things get contentious (which is not).
It will probably take the dissolution of the Faculty Senate to get them off their duffs in Washington.
