Thames had every right to punish the two professors. You people need to get lives. The problem with our school is all of you hippies that thrive on controversy. Go save a tree...or better yet go hang out in front of Java Werks. You people suck.

It is not a question of “right.” It is a question of management.
Another manager could have referred the alleged breach to subordinates -- maybe, create a very confidential "blue ribbon panel" (or whatever y'all call it in academia) made up of highly respected people in the organization. Assign to them the task of investigating any alleged infraction, then reporting back to the manager with private recommendations.
The manager is freed from the burden of investigation. The manager is insulated. The manager is in the position of act as judge or arbitrator instead of accuser or prosecutor. The manager stays above the fight.
By becoming the accuser in this case, the mis-manager actually placed himself on the same level as those he was accusing. He diminished his own status. I don't mean by diminishing his credibility. I mean he set up the circumstances that he controlled so that he wound up being nothing more than a witness. And not a very good one at that.

you are correct, ram. nicely put... you speak with the wisdom of a seasoned professional
Thanks Bucky. So much has been made of SFT's much vaunted "Businessman" status, apparently by folks who believe there is only one business model. Don't these people remember "Chainsaw Al" Dunlap and the Sunbeam fiasco?

Yes, I remember Chainsaw Al, and I remember what damage he inflicted, and I also remember what happened to him. Does anyone know where he is today? Me neither.
Apparently, "Mr. Shelby Thames Supporter", you did not read the rules for posting on this message board! Your elementary name-calling intrusiveness will get you nowhere here. The point is to tell it to somebody who CARES, duh. By the way, did you wipe that SFT defecation off your nose before you took a sip of your coffee while hanging out with your imaginary friends at JavaWerks? Here's one consolation; having a brown nose and green eyes makes you as much of a "winner" as the "dome gnome" you so admire!
Let's look at the full spectrum of this situation. We still have people pointing fingers at each other. That started the mess. It hasn't changed one bit. Now with all the evidence "out" so that the public can see it, we can determine what happened and who or whom was or is at fault.
All we have managed to do is have Shelby Thames continue to say this or that and that or this. The situation still remains to be a one sided story. We have not seen the full story. We have not seen the evidence. We have not seen the cover up that has been employed by Shelby Thames and his administration. Shelby still uses his poison pen to fight back.
We cannot fight and we cannot defend because we have two gentlemen that agreed to what a state Supreme Court Justice said. Out of all this, Drs. Glamser and Stringer are the perfect example of how Shelby should be acting too.
This picture points out a snotty nose brat that always insists on getting his way. Now that brat is on the top and he needs to remember one thing. The top is a lonely place. There is only room for one at the top. Also, when on the top, you are an easy target for other faculty, students, staff, reporters, public opnion, and the IHL to examine.
The situation has not changed! The only thing that has happened is that basicly Shelby got an endorsement to keep the truth from coming out.
I support USM. I support the FS. I support the Student Government. I support the SC. Fire Shelby!
