I hadn't made up my mind completely about how I felt about the settlement. This picture, oddly enough, did it for me!! I hope those guys really do this in the near future. They deserve it!
Anyone who knows Gary Stringer also knows, of course, that he never STOPS working! (I suspect the same thing is true of Frank Glamser, although I have never had the pleasure of meeting him.) That is another factor that makes this visual so funny; I just can't imagine Gary Stringer on a beach with a pina colada -- at least not without sixteen Donne manuscripts handy! Or MAYBE he'd try to smuggle a pina colada into the British Library! You don't accomplish what he has accomplished by lounging around -- which is what makes SFT's charges about professors not working doubly pathetic.
We need a couterpart the the Night Chalker to paste hundreds of these images around campus. This might be the thing that actually makes Thames implode!
This one and the Wizard of Oz classic are my two favorite visuals to have come out of this whole mess. Both made me laugh out loud -- repeatedly. This board has inspired some real creativity!

Great picture!
Yes, the ill-formed opinion in the editorial that mocks the 10,000 pages on 200 poems exposes the illogic: Stringer doesn't do anything at all, just oversees a million-dollar project (in the humanities, at that!!!), contributes thousands of pages of significant and profound scholarship, and....oh, I forgot, it's liberal arts, so it really is nothing. I was on a roll thinking about statistics and business, and just got carried away. mea culpa (that's "my bad" for you trolls).

I just found the See More drawings. I don't know how I had missed those before. I saved them to disk and am printing them out to have around when I need to laugh. I think the Hidey Hole one is the funniest of all. Lots of people need to be directed to those images. They are so great.
I missed it too since it was way down on the Favorite Links Site, but when I discovered it last night - I laughed myself almost our of my chair. The Van Hooks reference was great.
