I just talked to my campus source (fairly close to the source of things at USM), and he had not heard anything about this. Not saying that it couldn't still be true, but the news/rumor has not made it all across campus yet.
Please, someone, provide confirmation when you can!

I'm not on campus today, and my source is passing along scuttlebutt from the administrative/staff side of campus. So, I don't myself how true this is, but that is definitely the belief on campus. And my source is reliable, but her/his source may be less so - I don't really know and can't get to campus to confirm. Sorry!
If I'm not mistaken, didn't Mr. Hanbury's promotion to AAG make him report to the AG and not to SFT? A violation of MS bar principles plus screaming fits from a few local attorneys would have done the job -- say what we will about Mr. Hood, what possible need does he have to keep Mr. Hanbury in place. Maybe the promotion was a big huge ole mistake??

Or perhaps a very calculated move to get rid of Hanbury by the AG (change his status so that the AG alone could fire him?)? Who knows...I just want Hack Hanbury GONE from USM!

He was probable made AG so all conversations with Shelby would be protected by attorney client privilege when and if they are appear in court. The AG probable listened to the hearing and realized the legal liability of the state. Hearing Hackberry questioned under oath would be interesting in deed. What did you know and when did you know it, type of thing.
I seriously doubt the AG was so impressed with Hackberry and the hearing debacle that he insisted he be given the new status.

OK - my source says that M. Dvorak is also out. Again, I cannot confirm this, but clearly this is the word on campus among staff/administration. If this is true, I'd bet that Dvorak quit rather than being fired - he hadn't earned enough public scorn like his wife and law partner Hanbury. Either way, it is a good development if true, and may mean that the bricks of SFT's Administration are tumbling.

Gee, and if they think all the local attornies in the Hburg area are so incompetent . . . they can start their own law practice right in this very community. I'm sure Hewes, Klumb, Kleinpeter, that car dealer in McComb, and a few special others will be their first - patrons.
I can't stand not knowing ~ called the HA and they don't know but already have a reporter checking on it. No one in the WDAM newsroom answered the phone.....maybe they are out checking too.......

For any detectives: I think that Hanbury's office was in the dome; it's listed as #5116. I'm assuming that Dvorak's office would be with human resources in Forrest County Hall, room 317.
95% sure that Hanbury is fired. On M. Dvorak the word now is that A. Dvorak cleaned out his office this morning. No word on her status, presumably she is still on board the sinking ship. Anyone know someone who works in HR to confirm this?

Call them back and ask if Hanbury is still employed with the university. THEN, call them a third time and ask if Thames is still employed with the university. Could be a bit of fun on a Thursday afternoon!

I'm not on campus & don't have a directory but can you call back and ask "who is the current director of HR" ~ maybe they could answer if we ask it that way.

Great idea. They said that he is "out of the office right now" and they didn't want to give a number.
If anyone doesn't have a campus directory and wants to call back later, the Human Resources phone number is 266-4050.

I just received confirmation attributed to Bob Pittman at the Lamar Times, but only with respect to J. Hanbury. No word about M. or A. Dvorak.
