I was working late and I think I saw the chalker at Polymer Science! (Okay, so there was a very tall thin guy walking away very quickly down the street.) There is some chalk on one of the pillars in front of the building and on the library. I bet there is more around campus, so show up early tomorrow before they wash it away. It's that faint purple chalk. Whoever he is, he should get some better chalk!

Let's start a chalk drive for the Night Chalker.
If you want to donate a bucket of sidewalk chalk to the Night Chalker....well, we need to determine a drop-off place.

Dam*
Just a couple weeks ago, I was cleaning out old junk from my backyard storage building & I pitched two buckets of sidewalk chalk left over from when my daughter was in kindergarten.
I could've been a charitable contribution to the Night Chalker™ , but what did I know?

Please, no. Lets keep this legal (to some degree) so that they have nothing on us.

Maybe the polymer science department could develop Night Chalker™ brand spray chalk ... odor-free, of course.
You can buy car window chalk that is harder to remove. I'm sure there are plenty of USM fans that have used it on road trips. Or, any parent of any little league, soccer, or cheerleader would have some they could donate.

That's a great idea, Advocate! I used this stuff on my car and had to scrub the stuff off. There are planty of windows around here and the stuff shows up better that chalk on the sidewalk.

Actually, I learned the Aqua-Net hair spray trick in a drawing class at USM in the early '70s. We used it to "fix" charcoal & pastel drawings.
But yeah, we used to paint the railroad bridge next to 4th street pretty regularly. The trick was that we had this dwarf who lived in Scott Hall who could do professional quality lettering upside down (while being held by his ankles). I'm not making this up, as Dave BARRY (not Dave BERRY) frequently says...

LOL @ Dave Barry--Aqua Net and Skater Barbie...his columns on that were hilarious.

NIX on the permanent messages (i.e spray paint) With chalking you get what you get. What you get is a way of sending a message without doing damage to property that belongs to all of us. Also -- if caught, a chalker is a lot more sympathetic figure than a griffitti artist.
It takes more energy but that is itself a message of commitment. I love griffitti in its place and have worked with lots of griffitti artists but on a campus like this it would just be plain vandalism, I'm afraid.

If there are others (particularly outsiders) who share my views, those of you on campus and actively involved could risk losing support. As I watch (on this and other threads) the posts getting further away from substantive issues and concentrating more on disruption, I fear you are making a huge mistake. Reliving the protests of your youth may not the most appropriate way to effect meaningful change. The leaders of this 'movement' should do all you can to stay focused on substantive issues and not allow this to devolve into anarchy. A well reasoned dissent will differentiate you from your administration in a positive way. Stay true to the ideals for which you fight without losing your integrity due to frustration.

Is it really gone? Damn I worked so hard. I hit Poly Sci, ( I'll get those pix tp y'all soon) Fine Arts, & Liberal Arts. Almost got caught b/w McCain & Cook Libraries. I had some that said Sweet Virginia, Buh-Bye Hanbury, take Thames with you, etc. Just gives me more determination to work harder next time.

Maybe you two chalker should get together and watch each other's back during these night time activities.
