I know many USM supporters have appreciated Dean Doty's efforts to oppose Thames. But, today I heard several faculty express concern that he appears to be the catalyst behind the new Presidents University Council. Let's keep an eye on who his college's representatives turn out to be. It could be an interesting turn.
Oh, the new Council is all Pood. Its his academic area - Communication and he believes that enhanced communication can solve any problem. When he got to campus less than a year ago he was overheard to say that he needed to step into the growing crisis and foster communication between faculty and Administration. What he fails to realize, apparently, is that the crisis is one of management, not communication. Why he so willingly is helping Thames to look pro-active at this point I don't know except that he may be trying to curry favor with the Dome to save his job.

Yeah, he was a REAL conduit of facilitation on March 5, when the crap hit the fan in the Liberal ARts Building. /sarcasm
