SOUTHERN MISS TO TAKE 'CUSTOMER-FRIENDLY' REGISTRATION
TO NORTHROP GRUMMAN GULFPORT WORK SITE

LONG BEACH, Miss. -- The University of Southern Mississippi on the Gulf Coast will take its customer-friendly enrollment process to Northrop Grumman's Gulfport facility May 11.
From 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, representatives from Southern Miss Gulf Coast will register employees who wish to take classes at any of the university's coastal teaching sites. On April 27 and 29, Southern Miss registered approximately 30 employees from Northrop Grumman's Jackson County operations using the same on-site registration model.
As at the other sites, all Northrop Grumman employees will be allowed to defer tuition payment until the end of the semester and use the Northrop Grumman tuition refund benefit.
In the registration process, student copies will be permitted for the following: transcripts from each college or university attended, or high school transcripts or GED scores for undergraduate students. To register, employees must bring these materials with them at that time; official copies may be provided later.
Southern Miss Gulf Coast offers day and night classes in Jackson County and at the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. Evening classes are also offered at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi.
To accommodate certain nontraditional students, Southern Miss offers a "Test Drive a Degree" program. This allows a nontraditional student who meets specific requirements the opportunity to come back to school and take a class free of charge.
To be eligible for the "Test Drive" program, there are other requirements and conditions besides the minimum requirement of having 27 semester hours with an average grade of "C." The student must not have attended college during the past three years; nor have earned a bachelor's degree; nor be enrolled in any other institution during the "Test Drive" semester, and the student can only take one "Test Drive" course. For more information, call Southern Miss at (228) 497-3636 or (228) 865-4599.
