If this DOES happen, it will bring nepotism at USM to an entirely new plateau and thus make it virtually impossible for anyone to ignore (or defend). It may thus be just the thing to drive the last nail in the coffin. I am crossing my fingers and hoping that SFT & Co. are stupid enough to do this.
What's the story on old Mark D? Has anyone been able to confirm the earlier account that his USM office was packed up and vacated? I'm only a distant observer, but it's incomprehensible to me that Thames would be so politically stupid as to move Dvorak into the manufactured Hanbury slot. Is he really this arrogant?
Different topic--My Mom's an Ole Miss grad, and her family has established a couple of endowed scholarships at Oxford. Through this connection I've met and "socialized" with Bobby Khyatt on a number of occasions, including this past week. FWIW, the USM-Thames fiasco came up in our conversation, and he expressed (off the record) considerable dismay and strong disgust at Thames's conduct. Astonished is almost too mild a word to describe his take on the situation. He believes Thames has acted unprofessionally and is an embarrassment to the state of Mississippi.
Snoopy reported a conversation with M. Dvorak regarding the rumor of being canned and this rumor is exactly what it is a RUMOR.
Also, Snoppy reports the best NEWS:
M.Dvorak was asked flat out right "has he been offered the Hanbury position?"
M. Dvorak answered that he has not been offered the Hanbury position and the position has never been discussed with him. Moreover, Snoopy reported that Dvorak further told him that that would not be proper for the University to put him in that role and that if offerd he wouuld decline for those reasons.
Again, this confirmation is 98%
Snoopy is the most reliable source I have had thus far.
Invictus...I couldn't agree more with your take on Bobby Khyatt. I've known him for several years, and he's as classy an individual as I've ever encountered. And, his academic and athletic accomplishments notwithstanding, he's remarkably humble and unpretentious. I don't know Thames, but Khyatt would seem to be his antithesis.
Hopefully, USM will be able to recruit someone of similar personality and mindset after the coup de etat.

So, QBP/Snoopy, if Marc Dvorak isn't sliding into the Hanbury position, but he's vacated his USM office, then where's he going? And if he's out of work, can his bride be far behind? Inquiring minds want to know.....

He hasn't vacated his office. He was at work today.
I have it from a reliable source that the mystery boxes recently observed in Marc's USM office were just automotive cleaning products--buffing compound, carnuba wax, tire dressing, ArmorAll, etc.
One of Mr. Dvorak's lesser known collateral duties requires that he wash and detail Dr. Thames limo each weekend, after he mows and trims the lawn. You folks don't think he's receiving that fat salary just for warming a desk chair, do you?
For what its worth, I was told, by someone who is leaving USM, that when they went to HR to turned in their termination papers they noticed M. Dvorak's name was no longer on his office door. It was there a week earlier when they picked up the paper work.
Your source is so very wrong!!! This is the rabbitt you have been waiting to chase, right?
I was in the HR office over two weeks ago before all this stuff blew up and in fact in M. Dvorak's office discussing an employee issue and there are NO name paltes on any doors in HR.
I'd still like to see information from a non-troll source regarding Mark Dvorak's continued employment at USM.
This is one of those times when not living in Hattiesburg, or having regular occasion to visit the USM campus, is a drawback. But some of the participants here are in a position to drop by his office and see whether he is there or not.
Is there something we've all been overlooking--such as absences by Mr. Dvorak that the administration does not wish to publicize, but that do not indicate that he has been fired?

I'm beginning to think it's an inside joke. They guy is either at work or he isn't. But you can only find out in person. Anybody on campus can be privy to the true status of Mr Dvorak, but like a Masonic secret, it cannot be divulged to outsiders.
Well, a bit of gossip. The issue of Dvorak in HR should now lie to rest. I had some folks pick up some documents this a.m. and he is there in full operation.
