Is it really true Shelby is hosting a retirement reception for ALL the professors who have retired this year? How transparent and low will this guy go? Please tell me that any retiree receiving an invtitation will politely say, "No thanks." I also understand he extends invitations to family members of retirees.
The more I think about this, it begins to smell of Ms. Mader..
Readers might be interested to know that faculty in our academic unit recently received a memo that, at the urging of those who are retiring this year, we will not have the usual retirement party.
Should it come as any surprise that people would not be in a party mood right now?

This year, though, there will be far more invitations sent out!

The retirement reception has been going on for several years, this is nothing new here.

Since G&S are still technically "university employees," I would imagine that answer would be "no."
The invitations have gone out. I received mine 4/27/04. The reception is scheduled for Friday, June 4 at 3:30 pm in the infamous rooms B & C of the Union Building. I was told during outprocessing in HR that they would be holding such an event. I have my letter to Shelbo waiting to tell him why I WILL NOT and CANNOT attend a reception of his doing. I am hoping he'll be gone by then. Wishful thinking probably, but one can always hope.
