Had some follow-up meetings this morning with Don Cotten. He's working on a new program he wants to implement during the first semester he's President, assuming that happens (we think it may very well). The program is called "Tuesdays without Thames," and it will consist of various musical symphonies on the lawn of Bennett Auditorium on all Tuesdays during that semester. All students, faculty and staff (and members of the general public) are invited to bring their lunch/drinks and sit around the lawn and get a good dose of the kind of cultural events that have been missing at USM since 2002. Unique Catering will provide desserts each time, and coffee (to go with the dessert) can be purchased at the new Java Werks Coffee Kiosk on campus. Dr. Cotten is in discussions with Mr. Hill of Java Werks.
My Risk Manager part of the day over in the Thames Polymer Science Center examining the new construction. He also got into the construction site for the new International Education building. He noticed the engraving on the front --- "Above All Nations is Humanity." He went in and told the construction foreman to carve a subtitle that reads "...and in this building lies Tim Hudson's future office ...." The foreman questioned his authority to command such, and my RM told him simply that it was on Mr. Chain's instruction that he do so. The local construction foreman said he new Mr. Chain well and would be certain to put his crew on it asap.
My RM's associate travelled to Jackson to get set up for the IHL meeting tomorrow. He took the surveillance van, so that he could sit outside whatever restaurant Roy Klumb and/or Robin Robinson visit tomorrow at lunch (or tomorrow night after the meeting). The iTech employee who went with him is staying in a nice hotel tonight (charged to Pileum).
After my RM's associate covers the board meetings, on Friday he's going to snoop around the GodwinGroup some and see what turns up.
As I've seen you all around campus, many of you have asked what it's like in the surveillance van when things are slow. I'll try to answer that for you over these next few reports. In Jackson tomorrow, it will be my RM's associate and the iTech staff members. My prediction is that they'll eat lots of Ramen noodles, and the associate will ask the iTechie a million and one questions about Jill Beneke. He always does that. Once, the iTechie got snappish it became so monotonous/repetitive. In addition to that, I'll bet the associate does 3,000 push-ups and 2,000 sit-ups. They'll both probably surf the web alot too, including this site.
Well, I'm turning in early tonight. I'll fill you in on our new location soon.
