Here is what the CL says about Klumb's reasons for opposing MSU's AD:

Of the current board, only Klumb and Ross have spoken out against Templeton, said board member Amy Whitten of Oxford.

Klumb and Ross specifically cite MSU's ongoing NCAA infractions case (the school's second in eight years) and questioning whether enough is being done to broaden the school's athletic fund-raising base.

Here's what I believe is most likely the real reason:

State just hired a black football coach (Sylvester Croom).

And your point is????  Klumb's a racist?  Welcome to Mississippi.

If a plausible case can be made that this is one of Klumb's motives, is there any chance that the MS NAACP could be persuaded to speak out against him?  Would THAT have any impact?  By the way, are there any African-American members of the IHL?

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Ambiguity alert.  Maybe you meant, "Klumb's a racist. There certainly are racists in Mississippi."  Surely you did not mean, "Klumb's a racist because he's from Mississippi."   I hope.

Your first interpretation is correct.  I'm from Mississippi, and I'm no racist, so I alone make the second statement untrue.  I had no idea that anyone would think your 2nd statement was even a possibility coming from my mouth (fingers??), but it's always good to clarify.
