I have always found it interesting that the CBA thinks it needs a new building to improve its reputation and its programs.
I believe a college builds its reputation by what it produces and how well it is supported by its alumni and friends. The CBA Advisory Committee is being told that a new building is what is needed to make the program great again. I personally believe that having the Advisory Committee support endowed chairs, endowed student scholarships (both undergrad and grad) and endowments for library, equipment and travel support would go a long way towards making their programs once again recognized.
The college only offers a few master's programs and no Ph. D. level degree offerings. There has been no research grants to come to the university throught their college in well over 5 years. Maybe closer to 10 years.
The CBA faculty have it made. They get a light teaching load, they get an office and they consult to their hearts content and pocket all their consulting fees. They do nothing to help build the programs that are supporting them. At least Shelby and his program bring a lot of money to the university each year through grants, which in turn supports a lot of students.

Demeaning the CBED seems a poor strategy for keeping everyone on board to accomplish our goal. And I would guess that the faculty in the CBED would question the veracity of some of your statements.
