Now that the IHL has got past the pesky academic issues at Southern they are free to concentrate on the important matters.  Does anyone have contacts at State? How is their interference/intervention playing up there?  Are the alumni on board with President Lee, or is there a move to unseat Templeton?

Yesterday was very educational vis-s-vis those powers which control higher education in the great state of Mississippi.

If you really want Thames out this is how you do it. He has turned on Jeff Bower (who suppored him like a good soldier), he is not allowing Giannini to give Bower the contract extention that he deserves. Thames has also turned on some of the big athletic donars that put him in office.

If you want Thames out of the chair, this is the direction you have to take. Remember is was the athletic booster, not the facutly that ousted Fleming.

Does State have an equivalent to Eagle Talk?  (Surely they do.)  I didn't mean to get into issues pertaining to Coach Bowers, somebody can start a thread on that if they like.  I was just wondering how happy alum and others at State are with Mr. Klumb and Mr. Ross.

State has several boards.  I'll take a deep breath and go lurk with the athletic supporters.  I am curious to see what my old friends on EagleTalk are saying.

Seeker, in his risk manager disguise, actually does raise an interesting point.  It may not be THE way, but is certainly one way to enlist some support if SFT has alienated Coach Bower and his fans.  Loyalty just flows one way with some folks, huh?

You reckon if we'll promise to spell the coach's name right, we could get seeker to use a spell check (spellcheck.net is a good one) program? It would at least help us pretend we're dealing with someone else.

Okay, I'm back.  I thought I had posted this, but I get back to find I did not, so I will just amend.

I visited EagleTalk, Bulldog Blitz, and Gene's Page.  Nothing I could find at ET indicates that Bower's extension (or lack there of) is a hot topic. Jumping to the Miss State sites, I found substantial discussion of the one year extension given AD Larry Templeton.  Most fans seem to be in agreement with Klumb and the IHL Board: one year ought to be good enough to see if Templeton will change his ways. (He is not producing, is not a glad hander, does not create a good game day experience, did not oppose the cowbell ban, etc.) Absolutely no discussion that I could find about the potential problem created by the Board's override of President Lee's request for a four-year extension.

Governance is not much of an issue when it's time to think about football.
