She was one of the best teachers I ever had at USM, but she was a little too good for Shelby's daughter Dana Thames, and Dana tried to run her out. She was granted tenure and promotion by the Provost and UAC but Shelby - in a sheer act of NEPOTISM - never turned her name into the IHL. I hear her Federal Court case with a jury trial comes up in Hburg in May. Hers will be the first legal shots fired. I wish Dr. Melissa Whiting and her 5 million dollar suit well!!!
If she's in the ballpark of 5 million, imagine what'll happen with Glamser and Stringer. I hope the university is protected with some good insurance to clean up Shelby's mess. I had a class in that Dept. once. All the professors in there sucked except for Whiting and Sulentic. Satan Had Me is as incompetent as her daddy.

Am trying to piece together how many cases Adams and Reese (Jim Keith's law firm--Keith is the appointee to monitor "fairness" in Glamser/Stringer terminations) are involved in.
Kim Chaze, Whiting's attorney verified that John Hooks of Adams and Reese is defending USM in this civil suit. That's who USM went out and hired when they got into the first of many legal snafus. And Whiting is obviously not the only one who is suing. Any doubts on that - call Chaze's office for verification or go down and look up the suit in the court records. It's there.
It's taken Dr. Whiting's case nearly 2 years to come to trial. How long will the other 2 professors have to wait? Will this latest mess help or hurt her case? I wish her the best, because she deserves it considering Thames and Thames2 have pretty much ruined her career.
I never had the pleasure of having Whiting as a teacher, but what I do know is that she was one of the best. Apparently, DT could not handle how wonderful she was - at all levels. So DT's answer was --- crucify Whiting. From what I can surmise, she thought Whiting would go away quietly. Didn't happen and won't happen. DT once again showed a lack in judgement and went after a truly brilliant professor. Yeah, she ruined Whiting's career, but something tells me that MWhiting will get the last laugh in the end. hear she'll be in Hattiesburg around April 1 when her younger daughter attends Petal prom -- maybe we can get her pinned down on more of the details of this lawsuit.
