If you haven't read this article, read it now, and come back and let's chat about it.

In a nutshell, the USM chapter of AAUP considered boycotting businesses whose owners have appeared in the media to criticize faculty.  However, AAUP stopped short or an organized boycott; instead, decisions should be left to individuals.

As an individual who shops regularly in Hattiesburg, I would be interested in knowing which businesses are owned by critics of USM's faculty.  I pledge not to spend my money at those businesses.

Let's get a list going of businesses that are propping up Shelby.

Unfortunately, the Crescent City Grill/Mahogany Bar owner has publicly been supportive of Thames. Darn, I loved that place.... Copeland's here I come!

CC/PP/MB's main patron is Thames. Why bite the hand that feeds you? It's working for the athletic department.

The faculty and graduate students put a whole lot more money into CC/MB/PP than Thames & co.  A boycott of that place would be seriously felt.
