Haley Barbour will appoint four new members to the college board--probably in the next week or two. They should be appointed in time to attend the April college board meeting.

Here are the Hattiesburg-area potential appointees:

Hattiesburg businessman Bob Mixon, 59, a University of Southern Mississippi graduate. He lives in Sumrall.

USM alumni leader and businessman Jim Payne of Jackson. He and his brother contributed millions of dollars to help finance the Payne recreation center on the Hattiesburg campus.

Anyone know anything about these guys?  How will Shelby fare if these men are appointed?

Would be nice if Barbour would see fit to appoint a woman from the Hub area, but, alas...
