Southern Miss to be sued by former player; NCAA infractions alleged

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A lawsuit alleging the coaching staff at Southern Mississippi committed serious NCAA infractions and wrongly revoked former center Ben Lambert's scholarship in 2003 will be filed in court this week, Lambert's attorney says.

No wonder USM is hiring all these lawyers!!! (Hambry, Dvorak, etc.)  Getting sued once or twice a week!

Here's a question: Whose pockets are all these lawyer fees coming from?

The fees come from IHL & the individual college operating budgets. It's really no wonder the college budgets are so pathetic -- go take a look at any minutes from a College Board meeting. For example, take a look at the Jan '04 minutes -- about $70K was approved for legal expenses across the state colleges/universities for what would appear to be litigation (as opposed to patent approvals etc).
