It seems to me that there are four types of readers on this website. There are the activists, who are dedicated to a cause and willing to be out front with deeds. There are the curious, who are watching on the sidelines and may be seeking information but also providing a little, hoping that others will follow-up. There are the thrill seekers who like to comment and agitate but don't necessarily offer anything new. Then, of course, there are the spoilers, who don't deserve comment. To the extent that that the thrill seekers and the loyal activists are the most active on the website, there is not a great deal of new information that is being disseminated and that will reduce the power of the site. Those of you who are curious, re-read all the threads, add what you know, suggest new channels of investigation, and pay attention to what others have written, go do some digging...To the extent that we are "preaching to the choir" we are not as effective as we could be.
Achieving the stated goals of this website will not be accomplished through rhetoric or by chasing the wrong villains. An example of this is the huge thread on the new coach. Interesting reading and controvesial hire but the bottom line is that if the guy stays clean and does a good job leading the USM team to a national championship, all this criticism will be forgotten and both the president and university will look good and that was certainly their strategy. That's out of our control right now so the better approach is to deal with what is in our control. Let's substantiate the rumors, find documentation of cover-up, cite specific incidents of deceit, look for those things that will convince the outside (not just each other) that the ENTIRE senior administrative team needs to go.
Good observations. I agree about the coach. The people who normally support athlethics seem excited to have him. That being the case, there's no point in continuing to complain about the choice unless he does something on this job to prove himself a liability.
Better not to chase too many bunny trails. That just makes people lose focus.
