As you can see from my previous post (My response to Shelby), I've already written my "letter to the editor" this week pointing out the inconsistencies in Shelby's "open and honest communication" (NOT) ploy. Some of you other folks need to write to the local media asking for an immediate investigation into Dvorak's resume/bio referencing some of the information that's come to light on this board. (maybe even referencing the "pump my resume" post).
I would do it myself, but I don't think they'd print 2 of my letters in the same week (I've already had one in the papers in the last few weeks). A friend of mine in the media just pointed out to me that someone needs to write in and ask why there has been no investigation into Dvorak's resume (since this is the nexus for the whole debacle in the first place). C'mon, all of my intelligent message board compadres! You can do it!
"But on campus, both the Graduate Council and a Faculty Senate committee will be looking further into Dvorak’s credentials.
At the March 12 Faculty Senate meeting, the Ad Hoc Committee on Credentials and Hiring and Tenure Process released a report stating they would investigate the questions surrounding Dvorak’s credentials and concerns about the hiring and tenure process at USM."
Fire Shelby, I did see that and I'm glad those campus groups are investigating. But I still think it's worth asking the "investigative" reporters in the local media to do their job and get on it. You think they would've done this already, but, alas, no dice.
In other words, I think it would be stronger coming from a non-USM source at this point. Harder for Shelby and Co. to ignore.
The media have had soooo many opportunities to do investigative reporting.
Look at Thames' claim that he cut Dana's raise. How hard would it have been to contact the people he said recommended the >15% raise.
All most outlets are doing is printing what is said to them. To me, this is material for network investigative news shows. Wish we could bring some of THOSE in to look at what is going on. With the Guardian UK, Chronicle, national AAUP, and ACLU involved, it seems like a natural jump of faith to assume that this story merits network investigative attention.
Anyone know what Robbie Ward is up to these days? I heard he's working for the Daily Journal. Isn't that a Tupelo-based paper? Wish he'd spend a day or two on campus. He's definitely Shelby's nemesis.

I just emailed Robbie (yes, I think he's working for the Tupelo paper). I'll let you know if he replies.
Too bad we do not have anyone like him at WDAM, WLOX, WLBT, HA, SH, CL, etc.............
So sad for Mississippians.
I honestly think they will NEVER question one glaring lie or inconsistency until it is SAFE to do so.
You should all get on the phone and chastise these media folks for being asleep at the wheel given the open Pandora's box of easily accessible "public" data.

I just emailed him. I'll let you know what kind of response I get.
