This is true. I don't know if he was the only one able to negotiate tenure. But he was the only one that did.

So, Pood and the CoST guy (can't remember his name) don't have tenure? What's up with that?

I don't know. I guess they REALLY wanted to be deans. Doty said he wouldn't come to USM without it.

This would be Thames' MO. It makes these guys weak and ineffectual at pleading their cases.

pood wanted tenure but was told there was a probationary period of a year. this is consistent with what my department was told 17 years ago. then we hired an outside chair and he had to wait a year for tenure.

This certainly helps to explain why Dr. P. hasn't resigned in protest or been more publicly critical of the treatment of tenured professors in his college.
