The search committee for the Dean of the College of Health rated the 3 external candidates as acceptable (two by 10-0 vote, one by a 7-3 vote). The internal candidate (Joan Exline) was rated as "unacceptable" by 7 of the 10 search committee members.

Don't be surprised if Joan is appointed Dean in spite of strong opposition to her candidacy. She's a lapdog for Shelby (as demonstrated by her willingness to fire Terry Kinney without cause).

This will be the next example of autocratic leadership that is detrimental to the best interests of the university.

Are there students/faculty/staff from College of Health who are willing to join the student protest on April 6?  Spread the word to them...and the nursing students who are still upset (rightly so!) about the dissolution of the College of Nursing.

I hope Dr. Kinney's supporters will be out in full force again on April 6. He sure got a raw deal. The nursing students were well represented at the last demonstration.

Nursing students are well educated in ethics, power relationships, organizations and management. They are colleagues with some of the most powerful individuals in society (MD's) every day. They are also aware that they "must use their knowledge and powers for good, not evil". Some will be there making thier voices heard.
