Very good sources have indicted that Texas Christian University is in hot pursuit of USM's CBED Dean, Dr. Harold Doty. Their search team has been in constant contact with him in the past several days.
That is great news for Dr. Doty. I have no hard feelings toward anyone who can find a better place, and finding a better place at the current time isn't difficult to do.

I don't doubt it for a second. I knew he wanted to return to his native Texas...and that was BEFORE the current crisis.
Actually, this would be extremely late in the year for someone at an AACSB accredited school to extend an offer of employment...I think there's a written or unwritten rule/policy that all hiring be completed by April 15...remember, Deans of COBs run the AACSB and they don't want to end up late in the year with positions to fill for next fall!
The only true statement on this thread appears to be that there is currently an opening for a Business School Dean at TCU. Interestingly enough, the same search firm that is handling the TCU search may also be handling the UTPA presidential search.

I don't know about that, Outside Observer. USM's College of Business (now CBED) interviewed Dean candidates last summer...well beyond April 15. Doty was hired late last summer. But you still may have a point...that may have been the exception rather than the rule (since the nine USM deans got their walking papers late in the academic year). But, obviously, it isn't unheard of.
Did Doty come from an AACSB accredited school? If not, then the rule would have probably been irrelevant, as I believe it is primarily an understanding between AACSB schools. If he came from an AACSB accredited school, then I'd be surprised about the late hire.
I just checked the AACSB Int'l web site...Syracuse Univ is listed as an accredited institution...interestingly, SU does not mention this accredition on their own School of Management web site. As promised, I sit here surprised
