After reading many of the threads about EEOC concerns, one must question whether there is a financial angle to recent hirings as well. To the extent that senior positions (being filled by questionably qualified individuals and without documented searches) are being funded out of private money there may be less concern than if they are being funded out of state money designated for instruction. There has been concern expressed on other threads that as qualified faculty leave, they will be replaced by less qualified faculty. Perhaps an even greater concern is that faculty lines are being filled by academically unqualified administrators. If individuals deemed unqualified for faculty lines are being funded from instructional budgets with state money, does this rise to "misappropriation of funds"?

Who is ultimately going to be seen as part of the problem and who will be seen as part of of the solution?
