being watched by the media!

Front-page article in the Clarion Ledger today is headlined:

"Some Faculty say USM not the Place for Them"

English professor Susan Malone planned to retire from the University of Southern Mississippi before unrest escalated on the Hattiesburg campus.

Now, Malone is leaving USM to become an associate dean of education at Mercer University in Georgia.

"I'm really pleased to have the opportunity, but it's highly unlikely I would have even been aware of it or looked at it seriously if things were not as they are at the university," said Malone, who has been at USM 10 years. "I would have a hard time encouraging faculty across the country to come here."

From Day 1 of this message board, babbs has said that a list needs to be kept here, and that the media should take notice.  Thanks, babbs, for your daily updates on "the list."

A glass of cheer lifted to you Babbs, for your persistence on this. Though it is sad to watch good people leave, their leaving needs to be noted.

Great work, babbs!

You have to drag the media, kicking and screaming, into covering what goes on inside a university.  Have to do most of their research for them, too.

But persistence can be effective.
