News on Joe Paul should come soon. The last visitor for the position at Texas A&M was there on April 7-8. I suspect the position has been offered and they are waiting for the decision, which could easily be this week.

Although he said it isn't related, Paul recently resigned from the HPS board. I think the timing is more than coincidental--my opinion only; please lddad, no lectures on cause and effect and correlations.

Invictus' fingers are crossed for Dr. Paul. If he is interested enough in that job to interview, then I wish him success. It would surely be a financial boon for him, especially when he can more than likely draw his Mississippi pension on top of whatever TAMU pays him.
We don't even need to go into the "current turmoil at USM' to find plenty of reasons that he might want a career move right now. (The same probably applies to quite a few of the out-migrating faculty as well.)
USM's loss, yes, but it would most definitely be a step up for him, financially & professionally. And a big gain for TAMU.

I have also been watching The Battalion. Keep in mind that the office of Vice President of Student Affairs at A&M also oversees the Corps of Cadets. The last interviewee was the Commandant of the Corps of Cadets and someone with Aggie experience is highly regarded in the VP job recruiting process. However, Joe appears to have the most experience in Student Affairs of the four potential candidates. Joe would be wonderful wherever he is and I wish him the best.

Assume most of the rumors you hear may very well be some form of spin or disinformation, particularly when it seems to disadvantge the defense. I talked to Mike Adelman yesterday and he seemed reasonably relaxed and confident. Hard to imagine he'd feel that way if his clients were going after one another.

I'm sure ole SFT is still very perplexed as to why they both didn't consider that such a good deal. Go, Frank and Gary!!"
This sounds very plausible; the mere fact that these two men are openly fighting back suggests that they are confident that the charges are baseless; otherwise, as you say, a comfortable "early retirement" would have been their best bet. I guess SFT is not used to dealing with folks who are willing to stand up to him.
Does anyone have any sense, by the way, of what HIS mood is these days? We have heard reports that the two professors are in good spirits; are there any reliable indications of what kinds of spirits SFT is in?
Not sure if this is a great indicator of his overall mood of the situation, but I spotted him on Sat. He was laughing with a big smile on his face as he drove past Pride Field in his white Mitshubshi SUV. I guess he was leaving the little football game thing.

If you could see him smiling, I guess he had the lid of the Darth Vader mask up!
