SOUTHERN MISS HOLDS OPEN CASTING CALLS FOR THREE UNIVERSITY COMMERCIALS

Faculty, staff, and students at The University of Southern Mississippi are
invited to open casting calls this week for three upcoming commercials
promoting the university. The casting calls, held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on
Thursday, will take place in the Commons Banquet Room A in Hattiesburg and
in the AEC Rotunda on the Gulf Coast campus.

In conjunction with GodwinGroup of Jackson, Southern Miss is continuing to
promote its new brand image and is focusing on aggressively recruiting new
students. The commercials will specifically target incoming freshmen,
nontraditional and professional students, while furthering the world-class
image of The University of Southern Mississippi, said Lisa Mader, director
of Marketing and Public Relations.

"This is a great opportunity to showcase the bright and talented Southern
Miss community," Mader said.

President Shelby F. Thames said, "Southern Miss has many programs, degrees,
and certifications to meet the needs of our community, state and nation.
We want to ensure that anyone looking to further their education knows what
Southern Miss has to offer."

Mader said she encourages "everyone and anyone interested to attend these
open casting calls Thursday to assist us in recruiting the best and the
brightest."

No audition pieces or previous experience is necessary. Participants must
be available for commercial shoots on Tuesday, May 4 or Wednesday, May 5.
The Southern Miss commercials will start airing this summer.
