Should you include Carl Martray? He was the excellent dean of the College of Education and Psychology who went to Mercer at the end of the 2003 year, after the Big Dean Massacre convinced him that this was not a good place to be any longer.

Is it just me or is Mercer becoming the "safe harbor of choice" for departing USM faculty (first, Horace Fleming, then Carl Martry, then Susan Malone)?? Inquiring minds want to know....

Yes, you're right about when he left, and if you're going by dates alone, he's not technically a Thames casualty. But I'm certain that he would have stayed at USM until he was ready to retire if he had been treated with respect by Thames. He was a big loss to USM, and Thames is responsible, I have no doubt about that.

You're right, Flash. I withdraw my nomination of Martray.

467. DASSIER Former faculty, left USM Aug 2003 despite being freshly tenured and promoted. Would have stayed at USM without Thames and his team of evil-doers

Dates aside, he was very much a Thames casualty. I knew him and his wife personally. They bought into USM and Hattiesburg in a very big way, supported local athletics even thought they had no children in public schools. They were planning to be here for the long haul and left only after Thames fired the deans.

I don't know -- I think he went to a school in North Carolina. I suspect some of the folks in FL would know and I am sure several of them monitor this Board.
Has anyone tried going through the Catalogues for this year and last year to see who is missing? That might be a productive line of research . . . or at least uncover names that can be checked.
