law suits settled?

I am hearing that the Kinney lawsuit has been settled out of court and for a pretty hefty sum. Anyone confirm? Out of court settlements mean the parties are obligated not to make the result public.

Yeah, they like to say things like that in order to get attention off of the matter. The Whiting suit was according to DT "settled" out of court about a year ago. Wrong.

Does not the IHL have to approve the settlement amount at the next meeting?

Might be worthwhile to keep an eye on the IHL board minutes.

My understanding is that the IHL does not pay for settlements. That money has to come from Foundation or tuition money. I can't confirm that this is accurate, but that is what I have heard. I suppose this is a method to discourage universities from creating suits and then settling and making the IHL foot the bill. I also suppose this would help maintain the usual agreement among parties in asettlement that the result of the settlement will not be made public.
