This sounds ridiculous, but as I was meditating on the unhappy settlement and the fact that it enjoins G/S against suing Shelby or university, I wondered if some other faculty-based body could sue Shelby and the university, the faculty senate, the advisory council, somebody.
The idea would be simply to keep the heat on. No idea what the grounds might be. Thinking of some way to keep the faculty mobilized, and collectively and publically against Shelby in an ongoing action.
Faculty could sue for his misrepresentation of the enrollment figures, maybe. For his unilateral dismissal of 9 deans. For whatever--or a composite of all things so far charged against him.
May I suggest that in the coming action i.e. "No Quarter" that you don't want to play into the image of being a neanderthal faculty unable to peek out of the ivory tower and see the fiscal realities. Such suits may appear to be attempts to stop needed change and protect turf, unless carefully controlled. Also, could someone come up with ( a better mind than mine) a faculty /staff/student vision of how the university can accommodate university values and fiscal realities-without throwing out the baby with the bathwater-in other words, an answer to the preposterous approach of the cabal.
