Alum, please tell exactly what you think Dr. Stringer and Dr. Glamser should have done or should do. You are so critical, I would honestly like an explanation of the alternative. In your explanation, however, please be mindful that their options may have been limited within the context of the hearing.
Then, please tell me how much you did donate to their defense fund, and I will do my best to reimburse you for as much of it as I can.

legal action? At whose expense? The last 8 weeks alone cost over $40K. And by expense I don't mean just monetary. You expect these men who are in their 60's to spend the next few years of their lives tangled up in an ugly legal battle that would certianly emotionally and financially drain them and their families? Against a man whose financial bounds are limitless?
G & S could have elected to reach a settlement when Shelby first leveled charges - and probably got one much like they got.
They elected to act as if their primary interest was academic freedom - even after they brokered the deal. Their interest was self-interest. Understandable, but not after, and while - championing themselves as selfless defenders of academic freedom

Well, we will just always disagree on this point. You stated on another thread that you wanted your money back. I will be glad to do that as much as possible if you will tell me how much.
I am sending a check for $75 to Catholic Charities, Inc., 530 George St., Jackson MS 39202-3013. I already contribute to Habitat. However, if CC puts me on as many mailing lists as Habitat has, I will find out who you are and drop all that extra mail on YOUR doorstep!!

Please attend the court hearings in Sept. All the Media spaces will be allowed for you and those of you out there who have a true interest in my case.

F and S need your money. I actually don't need it, but what they have stood up against says trillions about what some of the rest of us are about to go through. What they endured will not be forgotten. Theirs is a case and a cause, and what happened is not lost on me or others in similar circumstances. I am very proud of Frank and Gary. Criminal charges btw were never brought against me. I simply got promoted and tenured and Shelby Thames refused to give me a positive or negative letter on this. I found out that my t and p didn't pass through Shleby's "standards" one week before school was about to start. I and MMS were the only ones who did not have contracts in their office boxesl Upon questioning - I got a reply 3 weeks later - from Thames that he wanted to "talk" to me. Chaze and I eagerly informed him that we were ready to talk. One week later, I got a letter, via certified mail, that SFFT was disappointed that I wouldn't personally talk to him and he had (without any justified reasons - nothing was stated) decided to terminate me. As a single mother, losing benefits and pay -- my life became a nightmare that I am still not over.
I'm getting my youngest through high school this year and I still love USM and Hattiesburg. There are 2 certain people that I happen to not like at all. Figure out those names.
Thank you UAC for believing in me, thank you A. Griffen and D. Cotten for thinking that I deserved tenure and promotion.
Dana and Shelby -- guess I'll see you once again in the Fall.

Frank and Gary did more for this cause than anyone. Instead of taking the "deal" outright, they put themselves and their families through so much stress. And for what you ask? So that the world could see the petty vindictiveness of Shelby Thames. They were martyrs long enough...it is now time for others to step up to the plate. If you're not here for the explicit theme of this board (to Fire Shelby Thames), then I suggest you go join Shelby's Right on his board. If you're in this for the long haul, then get on board.

Great Post TRUTH.
Academic Council and Faculty Senate both meet this week. Stay tuned . . .

What is your source? I'm pretty close to Gary and Frank, and that was never an option. The initial charges said their pay would stop March 31, regardless of the stage of their appeal. Anyone that knows anything about Thames knows that he does not compromise, even when it is in his best interest. Also, Thames rejected the judge's initial (9:00) request that the parties talk about a settlement. You are dead wrong on this.

Dr. Whiting, if possible I will be there. As I stated on another thread, being in a lawsuit even as plaintiff, is a special kind of hell you have to experience to believe. I could never blame anyone for taking a settlement. I was accused. in my own living room, of being some kind of lying opportunist; being deposed is somewhat like walking down Main Street in your underwear. Any little guility twinge you ever had comes screaming at you in the middle of the night. "Am I really a lying opportunist and just never realized it?" It's psychological torture.
