I am told Roy Klumb will be on. We'll see what gems of truth he has for us.

Please provide a full report for those of us who cannot watch.  Where is bogusboy, the ace transcriber, when we need him?

Of course my PC is in a different room from the TV, but I'll see if I can catch a few gems of wisdom from the paragon of enlightenment.

Roy Klumb is a doofus.  He said USM has 16,000 students.  He said his support for Thames is unwavering.  He said Thames will not resign.  He said there is not talk at IHL of asking Thames to step down.

The host sounds completely anti-Thames...

For those of you not able to watch this, he just said that "we need to take a step back  and move foward."  Are we walking backwards as to not see what is going on here?

He then confirmed that he has unwaivering support for Thames

Here's all you need from the first segment.

"IT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN."

When asked if the IHL board might ask for Thames resignation or fire him, Klumb replied, "It's not gonna happen."

He concluded the segment by saying his support for Thames was "unwavering."

Call ins begin after the commercial break...

Also said the Board . . .  some of the Board isn't for thames's regination or firiing . . .

UNBELIEVABLE. Not really because it's Klumb.

He gives his unwavering support to ST.

Y'all, he's got to go. Maybe our letters should go to Barbour. Klumb as President of the IHL board will never work.

Klumb opened by saying that Thames was hired to consolidate and save money. Said some leaders have to just go out and lead regardless of no confidence.

He has just accused them of committing a crime twice

Klumb is making up numbers.  Said for the 2nd time USM has 16,000 students, and just said USM has 750 faculty.  What planet is he living on?

All but 1 caller has hammered his butt...

In his response to the first caller, Klumb noted that "the reason tuition has gone up 50%" was partly due to lower state appropriations & partly due to lax management practices.

He also hinted that G&S used university computers to "commit a crime."

Of Thames, "I support him for doing what he had to do."

They are missing the point that Angie sits on tenure cmmittees -- faculty has the right to investigate ---

Sadly, the board members themselves were not constrained from commenting negatively about the parties in the settlement.

And in closing, Klumb opined that had the no confidence votes would have been different if the faculty had known that G&S had obtained a social security number "illegally." In fact, he used the word "illegally" twice.

He is ignorant of the facts even to this minute.

Klumb just tried and convicte them in public: accused them of stealing the ss numbers . .  said that might have changed the vote.

I'm tired.

Very ****ed.

Going to bed.

Pretty obvious Thames got his buddy Klumb to say all the things he is not supposed to say anymore.

Actually, he hinted at tenure as being the cause of the 50% increase in tuition (what time frame is the 50%, he didn't say?).  Note that he cited the Post Office as an excellent example of a public institution that has shaped up.  You might be surprised if you calculated the % increase in the price of first-class postage stamps over the past few years.

Correction: He didn't accuse them of stealing the SSN. He said they did it. Stated it as a fact.

NO QUARTER.

That was SCARY.  Good going, callers.  Thanks, host, for at least trying to keep it fair.  Mr. Adelman should be calling the Attorney General tomorrow morning.

Krumb also said the settlement cost $350,000 for the university. that seems rather conservative, considering the grant we're going to lose when Dr. Stringer leaves

A sad display from the incoming Chair of the IHL; he is exactly what we are up against; everyone should email David Elliott at  delliott@wlox.com to comment on the show. Thank you David Elliott for attempting to provide a public forum for the real issues.

NO QUARTER!!!!!

He accused G&S multiple times of committing crimes. If so, why were there no charges and why were they not fired in the end? Does Klumb mean to imply, too, that by his standards, Lisa Mader is a double criminal for giving the ss number out to the media (as came out in the hearing)?

Why call AG Hood? It's obvious which side of the fence that turkey sits on.

I just had a cold thought: Was Klumb's intent here to break the settlement a.s.a.p. & thus deobligate USM from the pay-out until it's resolved in court? Obviously, nobody on the IHL/Thames side will starve while the court case is pending, but that's not true on the other.

I didn't mean to imply Hood is on our side, I mean I hope Mr. Adelman lodges the strongest possible complaint.  Where else would he begin?

Klumb is really awful!  I have read things about him, but oh-my.  This was bad.  He is going to be in charge of the IHL as President.  It is time for me to start looking at other universities for grad school.  And no, it was not a professor that led me to that decision.  This corrupt administration and now, the IHL board that has led me to this decision.  I do not need anyone to tell me that it is time to "get the hell out of dodge."I have critical thinking skills of my own, giving me the ability to make educated decisions.

He  compared a university to a post office changing over the past 20 years.  What?  USM is not a post office, is it?

He also said the professors committed a crime. There was an open hearing and I, nor anyone I talked to heard any evidece of a crime being committed.  And further, Thames presented his whole case.  There was nothing!

He at some point said "I don't know what they (the faculty) want him (Thames) to do;  Put he arm around them and tell them he loves them."  Please do not encourage him to do that, Mr. Klumb.  He has had trouble with an issue similar to that before, as I understand.

To show what an a$$ he sounded like, he said, "there are about 15,000 employees in the system(statewide). I don't know them all; Don't want to know them all."  I hope to never meet you either, Mr. Klumb.  We would end up in a major argument!

Who is in charge of appointing members of the IHL.  I need to write some letters, soon!  Just listening to him has lit another fire under me.

Klumb isn't bound by the settlement, from what I can tell.  I hope that Frank and Gary sue Roy Klumb's a$$ for defamation, slander, lying, and just plain acting like a jacka$$.  I'm spitting mad.  This is beyond horrible...you effectively silence 2 men, and then go after them in public?  And you call yourself a College Board member?  Forget the IHL...everyone should write Haley Barbour and demand a public apology to F&G from Roy Krumb (intentional spelling mistake).  Ask for Krumb's resignation, while you're at it.

The official university charges against G&S make no mention of illegal behavior with respect to the Social Security number. The Jackson attorneys knew better. The hearing testimony made it clear there was no crime committed and none was charged. The TV station can check the charges and the transcript to see that Mr. Klumb was way out of line as well as out of touch. Mr. Klumb owes the professors a public apology.

It is true that Klumb isn't bound by the settlement. But Glamser & Stringer are. And the preface to the settlement states that they agree not to sue the board (and presumably members thereof acting as board members).

OK, I realize we can argue whether Klumb acts like a board member...

I guess Klumb really is a "red-blooded American male". He goes on television and tells lies about two men who are legally bound not to seek remedy in court.

Although Klumb is not legally bound by the agreement it is TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE for a member of the IHL board to bash one of the sides knowing that it was part of the agreement not to talk about it anymore!

The agreement only applies to past acts.  If Klumb commited slander tonight, then I don't believe the professors are precluded from seeking redress.

Maybe another no confidence vote is needed to set him straight.

Is there any way to get a transcript of the show, or at least a transcript of the especially egregious remarks?  Those of us planning to write the governor would like to be able to quote him verbatim.  Thanks!

Better yet, is there any way the show can be put on the net so we can all hear it again?  I am distant from H'burg and so could not listen.

I wasn't sure exactly about that. it seems as if they might not be allowed to seek redress over anthing related to the fiasco/suspensions/hearing. Would Klumb's remarks tonight fall under that? Any insight from the board?

I meant to ask if there was any more insight from the board. As usual, your insights are appreciated DC Eagle.

I have e-mailed wlox asking where the transcript can be found, and when I can get it, along with an e-mail to Mr. Elliot about my disgust with Klumb.  I will let you guys know when I get info on where to find it.
