What is a class action?

A class action is a case in which one or more class representatives seek to represent all of the members of the class.   There are several ways for a case to be certified as a class action.  The most common form of class action is one in which the major issues in the case are common to all of the members of the class so that a court or jury’s determination of these issues will resolve them for all of the class members.
