The on-line petition is very close now to having 600 signature (578 at present).  This means that in just the past week the number of signatures has nearly doubled.  This is very impressive momentum; let's try to keep it going!  If you can't sign openly yourself, please urge friends, family, or colleagues in other locales to sign on your behalf.

I love this petition FS and Andrea but how does it get to the Board exactly? Or how do we let them know to go see it?

Well, I will need help to get it physically to the IHL Board since I'm 400 miles away.  My thoughts when I set it up were to shoot for a number (perhaps 1000?), and then print it out and have someone deliver it physically to the IHL Board.  I'm thinking now that we might want to have someone deliver it to them at their next board meeting (May 20, I believe?).  So, I will need a volunteer to be the "point person" to travel to Jackson to do this.  If you want to be involved, please email me at truth@FireThames.com.  I will want to have someone that I "know" that I can trust...someone affiliated with USM (a professor?  an alum? a student?) would be appropriate.

My suggestion is that you simply print it, and send it via US Post Office to the IHL with "signature confirmation" to confirm the delivery. It isn't that expensive and you'd know that it had been delivered.

I thought of that, but it wouldn't have the impact (and media coverage) that delivering it in person would have.  Thanks for the idea, though.

It may also be good to begin e-mailing the link to the petition to the governor, state legislators, media, etc.  It seems important to continue adding signatures even AFTER the "resolution" of the G/S affair in order to show that interest in matters at USM has not diminished.

It would also be good if someone could compile a list of the results of all the recent (post-agreement) polls that inidcate continued lack of confidence in the SFT administration.  I will try to do this myself when I have some time.

This is Andrea's petition.  I can't answer any questions about it.

You need to file a request to get on the agenda if you want to have this delivered to the board during the meeting.

How soon do we have to file the request?  I still need to get someone to deliver it in person.  Again, if anyone is interested in helping me with this, email at:  truth@FireThames.com

I would contact IHL today to ask this.  I know that some state commissions ask that agenda requests be filed in writing two weeks in advance, to give them time to prepare the agenda and distribute it to commissioners.

I am not sure with IHL.  (They may not require that you do so, but I would find out so that they have no reason to exclude you.  Plus, this would give the delivery person an opportunity to speak.  I would have several choice comments picked out from the petition for the delivery person to read to the board before handing the petition over.)

I would just mind my Ps and Qs so that they cannot disallow the petition delivery person to speak.

589 signatures as of 10 am on May 10.  Momentum seems to have slowed lately; pehaps boosting the number of signatures, before the poll is presented to the new IHL, would be another productive way to spend our time this week.

Has anyone purged the duplicate "signatures?"  They are there.

The link has been sent to the IHL board (I believe USM Symphathizer did that).  No one has volunteered to take hardcopies directly to them, and since I live over 400 miles away, I'm not able to do it myself.  If anyone has other suggestions, please let me know!
