I just finished kludging together a Perl scraper program that converts the basic forum listing here into an RSS newsfeed file. It's very basic -- just title, link & author -- but it should work with any blog software that permits embedding newsfeeds into the homepage or in common news aggregator programs.

Here's the link to a demo page:
http://www.djeaux.com/cgi-bin/slasher/fasterslasher.pl?src=http://www.djeaux.com/rss/fireshelby.rss&ctl=1&cnt=25&dsc=1

The RSS file itself can be snagged at:
http://www.djeaux.com/rss/fireshelby.rss

I hasn't been fully validated, so it may choke some newsreaders right now. But it's late. I'll get that fixed manana. Once I have that done, I'll set up a little sidebar for any Mozilla users out there...

As soon as the crontab kicks in around 1 AM, the newsfeed will be updated every 10 minutes.

Enjoy. And if you haven't the foggiest notion what this post is about, don't lose any sleep over it.

Activeboard inserted a space into the URL above. When you paste it into your browser, look for %20 in the URL and delete it -- that's the code for the dreaded blank space...

Try this instead...

Thanks, Invictus!

Yes, everyone with blogs--this is a cool feature!

After a little over-the-first-cup-of-coffee tweaking, the FireShelby rss feed is now validating OK. This will last, of course, until somebody uses a weird character in the title of a post, but we shall see.

Get the XML here
See a very basic display of the newsfeed here

As I mentioned last night, I'll try to put up a pretty Mozilla sidebar later today or this evening so the latest "hot flashes" from FireShelby will be delivered right to your browser... For the nonce, there is a plain vanilla FireShelby Mozilla sidebar installer here.
