Liberty and Power reports the endgame

With confirmation of Hanbury's exit in hand, I've put a bulletin on Liberty and Power:

http://hnn.us/blogs/entries/5035.html

So I'll call on my long residency in Texas and shout

YEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

No Quarter,

Robert Campbell

I read it, loved it, and forwarded the site, once again, to about 50 friends/colleagues across the nation who are quite interested in this whole (ahem) affair.

Hey, Professor Campbell: That "YEEEEEEEAAAAAA" you uttered in your most recent posting doesn't sound like a Texas accent to me. It sounds more like the "YEEEEEEEAAAA" former presidential candidate Howard Dean once uttered in one of his speeches. (Just kidding. Trying to inject a little humor into your postin, that's all).

Mississippian,

You know it's hard to indicate proper inflection, typing into a cgi box.

Howard Dean doesn't know how to produce a genuine YYYEEEHHHHAAA!!!! (accent on last syllable).

Accept no substitutes,

Robert Campbell

at my house in celebration for the first of many victories for the faculty, staff and students of USM. Y'all have proven to me that really does make a difference.

And for those who don't drink I'll make sure that the is on.

Of course y'all do have to travel a bit to get here, but the door is open, especially to Dr Glamser and Dr Stringer.

Patti

PS YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I've added a postscript to the Liberty and Power entry, detailing the failure to convene a meeting of the Board.

I also mentioned the unconfirmed report on WDAM's Web site, to the effect that Shelby himself complained to the Board about Hanbury's email, Shelby didn't authorize the email, blah blah blah.  I doubt this is why Hanbury was fired, but all administrators who have been serving under Shelby should pay close attention!

Tomorrow, if I have time (it's Graduation Day at Clemson), I want to do a piece on Shelby's godawful letter.

Robert Campbell makes an excellent point on his site: if one report is true, SFT turned on Jack Hanbury when the chips were down; other SFT supporters can expect the same fate when the time comes.  They need to be aware that in SFT's eyes, they are quite expendable.

By the way, many of the recent events at USM came to mind when I was reading the review in the recent New York Review of Books about a new book on the court (and courtiers) of Josef Stalin.
